Seattle-The Millennium III Project

The Mission of the Millennium I I I Project

The Mission is to form a partnership of representative Puget Sound (Seattle and surounding cities) church and para-church leaders, both clergy and laity, preparing church Leadership to engage the changing mission requirements of a different future by undertaking

bullet

a major two year investigation of, and

bullet

Leadership training initiative appropriate to the global, national, regional, and religious challenges of the 21st century.

Change

The Project formed as a response to the rapid changes occurring both on the global level and in the everyday world. How the church responds to this transforming culture will determine its mission well into the next century. If leaders in the church are to make the best decision regarding the future, there needs to be some kind of education initiative geared to keeping them abreast of coming realities and of meeting them head on. To be effective, church leaders must have a means of discovering God's vision, then invest images, metaphors and models for planting the vision into the heart beat of the community.

Facing the Change

To help leaders become effective in this way the project has formed a comprehensive educational initiative designed to prepare 400 church leaders from approximately 100 congregations with a vision for all Christians who wish to reinvigorate their churches. From this educational initiative syllabi and learning materials will be developed for congregational classes, family and community study groups.

Over the two-year period top global, national and religious leaders with knowledge in the fields of technology, education, media and the arts, the challenges of medicine and genetics, the forecasts of politics and the economy, families, life styles and employment -- leaders who speak with the authority of a personal relationship with Christ and the expectancy of answered prayer --are being called to lead the consultation and training initiative.

Leadership in the New Century

The Millennium III Project is aiming at a church Leadership that is able to:

bullet

anticipate global, national, regional and religious challenges confronting the church in the new millennium

bullet

develop innovative and practical responses to changing cultural values
